What Suno MCP lets Claude or ChatGPT do in your Suno account
You already draft lyrics in ChatGPT or Claude, then copy them into Suno by hand. Since 28 October 2026, in a beta, the assistant can make the song itself. Before you click approve, it helps to know what you are handing over.
Suno's release note of 28 October 2026 calls it Suno MCP, in beta, and describes the main use as "Describe it in plain words, ideate on lyrics and style with your AI, Suno makes the song." Its two practical lines are "Available on all Suno plans. Songs use your credits." The help center FAQ adds that this includes Free.
It is a beta with an early access sign-up, linked from the release note. The setup steps and the server address are public, but whether an account that has not signed up can connect today is something we could not check.
Connecting grants eight permissions, and one of them spends credits
We have no Suno account connected and did not run a single generation through it. What we could read without one was the server. On 28 October 2026 an unsigned request to https://api.suno.com/mcp came back 401, "sign in to Suno to use this server", and pointed to its public permission list.
That list names eight scopes. Suno documents none of them, so what each allows in practice is our reading of its name.
Two deserve a second look. credits:spend means the assistant can start generations that use your plan, and every "give me three more" is three more songs.
offline_access is the standard OAuth name for a refresh token, so the connection keeps working after you close the chat. Suno does not say for how long.
Each assistant connects to the same address
Suno's setup page gives the same server for every client, with no API key. You sign in to Suno and approve when the assistant asks. Some assistants only allow custom connectors on their own paid plans.

Read the verse before the assistant spends a credit
Suno's own page puts it plainly: "Your AI writes the lyrics and style, Suno makes the song." None of the eight scopes checks the lyrics, so whatever the assistant writes goes to Suno as it is. Here is a verse we wrote to look like a typical chatbot draft, with syllables counted on the left.
8 | I left your coat beside the door
16 | I kept the light on in the hall so you could find your way back home
4 | (soft and close now)
8 | The cold has found your empty chair
Two things on it cost a generation. Anything in parentheses is sung, by a second voice, and the second line is 16 syllables, past the 12-syllable mark where a sung line tends to rush. In an earlier verse of ours with lines of 17, 15 and 16 syllables, those three were the ones past the mark, and splitting them brought every line to 9 or under.
8 | I left your coat beside the door
8 | I kept the light on in the hall
8 | So you could find your way back home
8 | The cold has found your empty chair
Shorter lines do not promise a particular take, and a word with two readings can still come out wrong, which needs its own check.
Before your first song through the connector, tell the assistant to show you the finished lyrics and wait for your yes before it calls Suno.
